The main character in this story is Scrooge. Scrooge was a clever and mean old man. Scrooge used to have a good partner name was Jarcob Marley. But Marley was dead 7 years ago. So Scrooge had to continue doing the business alone. Scrooge had never seen something that important except for his money and his business. It was strange because no one say hi to him on the street, no poor people asked him for some money and even the dogs were not brave enough to walk pass him. Everyone felt afraid of him, but there was a man that talked to him almost every single day. He was, Bob Cratchit, Mr.Scrooge's clerk.
Soon, his nephew came to visit Scrooge and asked him that can we had dinner together. But Scrooge seemed to be angry instead of happy. Because he thought that the work was more important than dinner. Soon, it was the time to close office. Scrooge went out of his office slowly to go back home. When he arrived his house, there was a great surprise because the knocker had become the face of his partner, Jacob Marley. Scrooge pretended to be like everything was normal. Finally, he opened the door and walk in his house. But there was another surprise for him. He saw a man with a lot of keys all over his body. And again he pretended to be normal and went straight to bed.

chapter 3-5, page 17 - 35
I have read 35 pages.
Malaak’s voices seemed to be lost. Suddenly, her mother came up to the roof and told Malaak that her father was disappearing. At that night, Malaak dreamed about her father. Her father was jumping to the moon and when he got there, he waved his hand. So Malaak jumped to the moon as well and hugged his father. Then, she woke up and she found out that she was not on the moon but she was on the roof. And she looked up and saw plans flew over her and Abdo's head.
It was evening. Malaak stayed on the same place which was on the roof. Soon, Abdo finished the seeds on Malaak's hand. Then, Malaak heard the sound of people shouting and when she looked down. It was Hamid. Hamid ran up to the roof, he looked nervous instead of tired. He told Malaak that he would go outside of the house and if anything happened to him, gave the ball to Tariq, his friend. After Hamid finished his sentence, he quickly ran down the stairs. Malaak thought among herself that maybe Hamid thought that he would be hurt today if not why he told me to do this kind of thing. At that night, the Israeli soldiers are walking around the city. So everyone in Malaak house worried about Hamid. Malaak's family went up to the roof to find Hamid. In a few minutes, Hamid appeared on the road near his house. Soon Malaak's mother went down and grabbed Hamid into the house.

The first chapter takes place in 1998 at Gaza city. The main characters are Malaak Abed Atieh, her mother, her father, Hamid (her brother), Hend (her sister) and Abdo (her pet (bird)). Hend is a pretty girl who always thinks about marriage. She has dark eyes, straight hair, straight nose and straight teeth. In opposite way her sister, Malaak, has big nose like someone punch on it and she has wave hair. Abdo is a very strong bird who lives on the roof alone but Malaak usually goes up to the roof to give Abdo some seeds. Abdo is a special bird because Malaak's mother never touches Abdo even though they both live in the same house.
One day in the morning Malaak wakes up as normal for a morning prayer, she wakes up before anyone in her house does. Then, she goes up to the roof to give Abdo some seeds like everyday. When Malaak stares at Abdo, he seems to move like he wants to tell Malaak something. Malaak’s mother doesn’t want Malaak to go up to the roof too often.
